Kyrgyz President to resign after parliamentary elections – press secretary

Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2020 / Kabar /. Press Secretary of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Tolgonai Stamalieva spoke about what was discussed during the talks between President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Prime Minister Sadyr Zhaparov.

She said that today President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Sadyr Zhaparov after the parliament approved Zhaparov's candidacy for the post of prime minister of the country.

“At the meeting, the prime minister voiced his demand that the president should resign tonight. Sooronbay Jeenbekov once again stressed that now he has no right to leave the presidency, as this will lead to an unpredictable scenario of the development of events to the detriment of the state. He recalled that he adheres to the same position that he voiced on Oct. 9, 2020 - he will resign after returning the country to the legal field - after the parliamentary elections, the announcement of the election of a new president of the country,” Stamalieva said.
