Kyrgyz president to visit Azerbaijan

Bishkek, Nov. 9, 2024 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov will pay a working visit to Azerbaijan on Nov.11-13 to participate in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Muratbek Azymbakiev.

"On Nov.12, the head of state will take part in the opening ceremony of the Climate Summit in Baku and address the plenary session of the conference.

The event "High Level Dialogue: Promoting the Mountain Agenda and Mainstreaming Mountains and Climate Change", organized by Kyrgyzstan together with Azerbaijan and Mongolia on the margins of UNFCCC COP29, will feature speeches by President Sadyr Zhaparov, Presidents of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Nepal Ram Chandra Poudel, as well as heads of other delegations and international organizations. The mentioned event will be held on Nov. 13.

Bilateral meetings of the Kyrgyz leader are also scheduled on the margins of COP29 of the UNFCCC.

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will be attended by more than 100 heads of state and government, as well as 150 delegations from around the world," Azymbakiev said.

He added that during the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change on Nov.13-21, a colorful national pavilion of Kyrgyzstan under the general theme "Kyrgyzstan: Sustainable Mountain Development" will be installed and work for the first time.

The pavilion will host daily presentations with the participation of ministries and agencies of the country on topical issues of the climate agenda, energy, trade and economic, tourism and investment potential of Kyrgyzstan, as well as cultural events, exhibitions of national mountain products (honey, dried fruits, national drinks, etc.) and tastings.
