Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2021 / Kabar /. In an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov told some details from the history of his family.

He said that during the tragic events of 1916, his great-grandfather Zhapar and his family were forced to move to China.

“In 1932 my father was born there. He spent his childhood and youth in China. Then, at the age of 30, in the 60s, my father returned to the land of his ancestors - to Issyk-Kul Oblast.

Many ethnic Kyrgyz live in China. In the area where my grandfather moved, there were only ethnic Kyrgyz. Therefore, my father did not speak Chinese, since all classes were in the Kyrgyz language with the Arabic alphabet. In other words, he and my grandfather did not have the opportunity to learn Chinese,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.

The president noted that to this day many thousands of ethnic Kyrgyz live in China, including those who have not been able to return to their homeland.
