Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2018. /Kabar/. “For now, one military base is enough for us,” Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov told at his press conference on activities in 2018, answering the question on whether it is probable that a second military base will open in the south of the country.
The country leader noted that there was no talk about opening a second base similar to the CSTO base in Kant.
“Russia pays attention to strengthening the base in Kant. It seems to me that for the time being one base, which is in Kant, is enough,” he said.
Jeenbekov also commented on the appointment of a new CSTO secretary.
“The CSTO chairmanship has already passed to us. I received the Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus. We are working on this issue. The CSTO cannot be left without a leader,” the President added.
