Bishkek, Nov. 20, 2017. /Kabar/. "I will carefully study the document on amending the Water Code and only after that I will sign it," Almazbek Atambayev said today speaking at his last press conference as Kyrgyz President.

He said that, glaciers in Kyrgyzstan are thawed due to warming. "As for Lysyi and Davydov, I will look at all the papers. I raised even the old data, there is a catalog of glaciers of the USSR. According to them in Kyrgyzstan there are 6 thousand 771 glaciers. This law concerns only two of them. And both glaciers were raised 23 years ago. Why then no one raised this issue," he said.

Nevertheless, the president said that he would review all documents and noted that it is impossible to refuse from Canada’s Centerra today. Because a huge pit is formed on the site of development of Kumtor, which will become a lake. And Centerra should clean it afterward.

The Water Code is the main law that he is studying today.

The Kyrgyz Parliament supported the changes in the Water Code.

The government's bill on introducing amendments to the Water Code provides for the permission to transfer the Davydov glacier to another place at the same height in order to extract the gold under the glacier. As for the Lysyi glacier, only 10% of the ice mass will be removed.
