Kyrgyz President’s state visit to Turkmenistan (photo-report)

Ashgabat, Aug. 24, 2018 / Kabar /. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov made a state visit to Turkmenistan on Aug. 23 at the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

On the first day of the state visit to Ashgabat, Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and discussed with him current issues and prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Following the meeting, the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan and a number of other documents aimed at strengthening bilateral relations were signed.

Within the framework of the visit, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov visited the Mausoleum of the first President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov, where he laid a wreath to his grave. The head of state also visited the mosque, which is located next to the mausoleum.

Further, Sooronbay Jeenbekov laid a wreath at the Independence Monument of Turkmenistan and planted a tree in the garden of the guests of honor.

According to the program of the visit, the Kyrgyz President visited the Olympic town, built in 2015 for the Asian Games in Ashgabat.

In conclusion, Sooronbay Jeenbekov got acquainted with Ashgabat textile complex of Turkmenistan.

The same day, on Aug. 23, in the evening, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov flew to the city of Turkmenbashy to attend the meeting of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, scheduled for Aug. 24.
