Bishkek, March 1 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Zheenbekov met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad within the framework of the 13th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Kyrgyz government’s press service reports.
At the meeting Zheenbekov congratulated Pakistan on taking chairmanship in the ECO and stressed that today's summit platform presented an excellent opportunity to exchange views on important issues of economic development not only in the region but in the world as a whole. Noting the high level of organization of the summit, he expressed confidence that Pakistan will raise the level in the ECO presidency even higher by providing the Organization to a new level of practical cooperation in all directions.
Referring to bilateral relations, Sooronbay Zheenbekov stressed that Kyrgyzstan cherishes the established relations of friendship and good neighborliness, and is ready to make every effort to deepen the relations in all spheres of cooperation. On this occasion, the Prime Minister Zheenbekov invited Pakistani counterpart to participate in the Global Summit on snow leopard conservation, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in September 2017.
Zheenbekov stressed that the scope of transport communications and energy are priorities for cooperation.
"For Kyrgyzstan - a deadlocked country, the importance of the development of transport links is highly relevant. With the solution of transport issues, in particular with the construction of the railway, we get a boost in trade and economic relations, the development of export potential of all parties. Kyrgyzstan is actively negotiating with its partners to implement the project of construction of the railway "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan", " said the Prime Minister.
"The Kyrgyz side has a strong interest in gaining access to Pakistani ports of Karachi and Gwadar in the implementation of infrastructure projects," said the prime minister.
In turn, Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif expressed his willingness to discuss the issues in the implementation of transport and infrastructure projects. He added that taking into account the geographical location of Kyrgyzstan the cooperation in this direction is an attractive and promising for Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif said that having visited Kyrgyzstan in 2015, praised the country's capabilities in the field of tourism, noting the beautiful nature of the country. He added that Pakistan is interested in deepening cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and personally make an effort to do so.
