Kyrgyz Prime Minister signs decree on establishment of institute of business ombudsman

Bishkek, Jan. 8, 2019. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziyev signed a decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the establishment of the institute of business ombudsman – an authorized person to protect the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of business entities.

The press service of the Governement Office reported that the activities of the Business Ombudsman will be aimed at ensuring guarantees of state protection of the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurs and their observance by state bodies, local governments, institutions and state enterprises and officials.

The Business Ombudsman will promote the transparency of the activities of state bodies and local self-government bodies in order to prevent violations of the rights and/or legitimate interests of business entities in accordance with the tasks and power assigned to them.

The Business Ombudsman will have his/her own secretariat, which will consider appeals and complaints from entrepreneurs. The Business Ombudsman and the secretariat are not public authorities and are not accountable to them.

The position of Business Ombudsman can be taken by any citizen (including a foreign one). The Business Ombudsman will be elected for a term of five years. At the same time, the same person cannot hold this post for more than two terms in a row.
