Bishkek, March 15, 2020. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev visited food markets and got acquainted with the work of retail outlets, where, in particular, food and essential goods are sold, the press service of the government reported.
Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev got acquainted with the product range presented on the shelves and talked with sellers and buyers.
Suppliers and sellers noted that there are no particular problems with the import of goods, their nomenclature, or inventory levels. However, according to customers, due to the rush of demand that had arisen on the eve of the demand, prices for certain groups of goods increased.
The prime minister said that today there is sufficient amount of food and other essential goods in the country.
“No one imposed any restrictions on the supply of goods and food products, and cargo flow across the border is carried out as usual. There is no reason to raise prices. In this regard, I would like to urge citizens not to succumb to unreasonable panic. The state is able to cope with the current situation and provide its citizens with all the necessary goods, including food,” said Abylgaziev. “None of you will see empty store shelves.”
Most of the citizens expressed their understanding of the situation in the market, noting that the hype was mainly formed due to rumors about the closure of the border.
The prime minister emphasized that government agencies monitor prices in the markets and that those who tried to unreasonably raise retail prices will be punished.
The head of government instructed the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes and the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation to strengthen work in trade markets and take tough measures in case of violations.
