Kyrgyz schools to receive assistance under grant program of Japanese Gov't

Bishkek, Mar.9, 2020 /Kabar/. The Japanese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan hosted the ceremony of signing grant contracts.

According to the Embassy’s press service, contracts on the following projects were signed under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP):

1. "Project to improve the conditions of education at the secondary school of Oi-Tersken village of At-Bashy region, Naryn Oblast”.

Under the project, Oi-Tersken school will receive furniture worth $14,398;

2. "Project to improve the conditions of education at educational institutions of Kara-Suu ayil okmotu of Dzhalal-Abad Oblast".

Under the project, 3 schools in Kara-Suu ayil okmotu will be provided with furniture, and one of the schools will also have a heating system, windows and doors replaced and an external toilet built. The total amount of the grant is $65,957;

3. "Project to improve the conditions of education at school-gymnasium No. 11 in Karakol town of Issyk-Kul Oblast".

Within the framework of the project, school-gymnasium No. 11 will be provided with furniture and an external toilet will be built. The total amount of the grant makes $ 51,315.

Grant contracts were signed between Shigeki Maeda, Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan, and heads of relevant institutions and organizations.

In his speech, the ambassador said this grant program of the Japanese Government aims to meet the basic needs and requirements of humanity by improving social infrastructure and providing access to services such as primary and preschool education, health care and social protection.

Shigeki Maeda also assured the Embassy will continue to implement effective projects at the local level.

For his part, Marat Usenaliyev, Head of Preschool, School and Out-of-School Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of KR added the assistance, provided by the Japanese Government to educational institutions is necessary and important.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and heads of relevant institutions and organizations.
