Bishkek, Feb. 6, 2023 / Kabar/. Rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan will fly tonight to help their colleagues in Turkiye, where there was a powerful earthquake, the press service of the ministry said.
According to the head of the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alim Toktorov, today at 19:00, 63 rescuers and 2 dog handlers will fly to Turkey.
"Rescuers will take with them all rescue equipment, including tents, products for work in the field," he informed.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the media that 912 people were killed and 5,385 were injured as a result of the earthquake in the south-east of Turkiye
“The earthquake, which occurred today at 04.17 local time, was the largest disaster in the history of Turkiye since the 1939 Erzincan earthquake. Unfortunately, the figure of 912 dead is not final,” he said.
According to him, search and rescue operations continue.
In Syria, 326 people were killed, more than a thousand people were injured, the local Ministry of Health said.
