Bishkek, Mar. 26, 2019. /Kabar/. The 8th Kyrgyz-Russian inter-regional conference will be held in Bishkek, head of the Department of Policy of Strategic Development, Economics and Finance of the Kyrgyz President’s Office Daniyar Imanaliev told at a press conference at the Kabar News Agency.
He said that the conference will be held as part of the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan.
“Russia is one of the important and strategic allies of Kyrgyzstan. Russia is the main trade and economic partner. The trade turnover between our countries in 2018 amounted to $ 1.6 billion, compared with 2017, the growth is about 4%. In general, it should be noted that in terms of direct investment Russia is also a key investor. In 2018, the amount of direct investment constituted about $ 123 million, and compared with 2017, the increase is by 25%,” he said.
Imanaliev noted that the purpose of the upcoming conference is to strengthen trade and economic relations, investment activities. He added that in preparation for this conference, the second meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian intergovernmental commission was held.
“We expect about 700 participants for the 8th interregional conference, On the part of Russia, they are representatives of state bodies, representatives of regions, governors. In addition, the conference will be attended by representatives of the business community, entrepreneurs and investors. Their interest is high. The interregional conference is planned to last for two days: March 27 and 28. March 27 will be dedicated to the main events. It will be attended by our official representatives. In particular, the conference will be divided into 4 round tables: trade and economic cooperation, issues of cooperation development, further development of digital technologies within the EAEU, development of cooperation of the agro-industrial complex and development of investment and financial cooperation,” he explained.
In particular, Daniyar Imanaliev clarified that in terms of trade and economic cooperation, the issue of mutual supply, possibility of creating joint ventures in the industry, issues of cooperation in the energy sector, in particular construction of small hydropower plants, will be considered. At the round table on the digital agenda of the EAEU, its interlinking with the concept of “Digital Kyrgyzstan” will be considered. In addition, discussion of joint projects and development of e-commerce will take place. In the framework of the third round table, the discussion will focus on the supply of infrastructure to the Kyrgyz markets and, at the same time, expansion in the framework of a regional hub for the supply of Kyrgyz products to Russia. At the fourth round table, at the center of discussion will be investment cooperation and development of a financial instrument so that Kyrgyzstanis can take advantage of investment privileges to create joint ventures and invest in projects that will be designated by our enterprises in Kyrgyzstan.
“At the conference, there will be discussion of investment agreements, B2B meetings. All projects that are of mutual interest will be presented. Following the results of the first day, we will summarize and voice the number of signed agreements, memorandums and the value of contracts,” he said.
