Bishkek, April 17, 2024. / Kabar/. The Association of Alpine Ski and Snowboard Instructors (AILS) of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the Swiss Snow Happening 2024 competition in Switzerland for the first time, the Department of Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The competition took place from April 8 to April 12 at the Swiss ski resort of Arosa. More than 70 teams from different countries took part in it.
The event has been held since 2002 and annually brings together winter sports instructors to compete and demonstrate their skills.
A Kyrgyz group of ski instructors, who had been training under the guidance of Swiss coaches for many years, was invited to the tournament.
Arriving a week early at the invitation of Swiss coach Werner Elmer, the Kyrgyz instructors learned new skills in a variety of disciplines, including giant slalom, ski cross, demo, moguls and freestyle.
More than 2,500 participating instructors, including a team from Kyrgyzstan, successfully competed in various disciplines such as giant slalom, big air, telemark, ski cross, demo, moguls and cross-country skiing.
The participation of Kyrgyz instructors was made possible thanks to the support of Swiss ski schools in Arosa, Corvatsch and Bivio, the Swiss project for the sustainable development of winter tourism in Kyrgyzstan (WTK) Helvetas and the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kanat Myrzabek uulu, Chairman of AILS KR, emphasized that the participation of association instructors in training and competitions at Swiss Snow Happening 2024 in Switzerland was a bright end to the 2023–2024 winter season for our team.
“This event turned out to be an unforgettable experience in our instructor practice, inspiring us to new achievements. We came back with a lot of ideas, including holding festivals and other similar events. We are confident that such initiatives will contribute to the development of winter tourism and the profession of ski and snowboard instructors in our country. Our entire team is ready to promote winter sports and tourism in our country, drawing on the experience gained in Switzerland. We sincerely thank all our partners, thanks to whom the participation of AILS instructors in Swiss Snow Happening 2024 became possible,” said Kanat Myrzabek uulu.
