Kyrgyz soldier killed in attack by Tajik border guards

Bishkek, July 9, 2021 . / Kabar / . As a result of an armed attack by Tajik border guards on a border detachment of Kyrgyzstan, 27-year-old soldier of the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security, sergeant Khusnidin Khozhiyev died.

The circumstances of the Kyrgyz soldier’s death are being investigated, the press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security said Friday.

According to preliminary data, there are also dead and wounded on the Tajik side.

Head of the Batken Oblast Border Service of Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security, Colonel Kyyalbek Tolonbayev and heads of law enforcement agencies are on the site.

Border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan continue to investigate the case.

On July 8, 2021, at about 5 p.m. on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in the area of the Chashmagildan pass, the border guard unit of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan was suddenly attacked by Tajik border guards. An exchange of fire occurred between the servicemen.
