Bishkek, March 7, 2024. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Nurlanbek Shakiev, as part of his official visit to the UK, held bilateral negotiations with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Lord Ahmad Tariq.
During the meeting, issues of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, especially strengthening trade relations, were discussed.
The Kyrgyz speaker noted that the official visit of the delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh is taking place for the first time since independence and expressed confidence that this historic visit will contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation.
Speaking about the latest reforms and transformations in Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Shakiev outlined the strengthening of the fight against corruption and measures to bring economic entities out of the shadows. “Particular attention is paid to the areas of education and health care, and efforts are being made to improve the well-being of the population,” he said.
At the same time, the speaker drew attention to the intensification of measures to ensure all necessary conditions for foreign investors and invited British businessmen to invest in sectors such as mining, hydropower and the green economy in Kyrgyzstan. In this context, he proposed deepening economic ties through the implementation of joint projects.
In turn, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Lord Ahmad Tariq noted that Central Asia is an important region for Great Britain and cooperation with Kyrgyzstan is a priority.
“We are interested in actively developing established ties and expanding comprehensive cooperation. “I firmly believe that the historic visit of the parliamentary delegation that you are leading today will contribute to the further development of interaction,” he said.
In addition, touching on the topic of cooperation between the two countries on international platforms, the minister expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for its support on some issues at the UN.
