Kyrgyz Speaker presents the bust of People's Artist of the USSR to Academy of Arts of Russia

Within the framework of the working trip of the delegation of the Kyrgyz Parliament headed by Speaker Chynybai Tursunbekov to St. Petersburg, a solemn ceremony of handing over of the bust of artist, People's Artist of the USSR Suimenkul Chokmorov to the Academy of Arts of the Russian Federation named after Repin, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported.

The Speaker said that for all Kyrgyz citizens it is proud to hand over the bust of our great countryman, a talented artist to the city of St. Petersburg, one of the recognized centers of world culture and civilization. "It is gratifying that such an important event for us coincided with the 25th March - the Day of the Russian Culture Worker. Today we pay tribute to Suimonkul Chokmorov's unsurpassed talent. His name is inscribed in gold letters in the history of Kyrgyz culture," he said.

The Kyrgyz Speaker briefed about the life path of Suimonkul Chokmorov. He said that Chokmorov received his art education in the Frunze Art College, and after graduation he continued it in the Leningrad Art Institute named after Repin. "Therefore, it was important for us to establish a bust of our great countryman here, at the Academy of Arts of the Russian Federation named after Repin," he added.

The ceremony was also attended by brother of talented Kyrgyz artist Suerkul Chokmorov, head of the Suimonkul Chokmorov Foundation Sagynbek Abrakhmanov, deputies of the State Duma and representatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora.

Besides, within the framework of this event, the Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh has been awarded the title of Honorary Member of the Editorial Board of the Information and Analytical Magazine of the Commission for Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport of the IPA CIS.

The delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic is visiting St. Petersburg within the framework of the jubilee sessions of the IPA CIS and the CSTO PA.
