Kyrgyz speaker receives Hungarian ambassador

Bishkek, Jan. 12, 2024. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev received Ambassador of Hungary to Kyrgyzstan Sandor Dorogi.

At the meeting, issues of strengthening political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations, as well as expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, were discussed.

Nurlanbek Shakiev noted that this year marks the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. “However, we are fraternal peoples and we have ancient historical ties. Therefore, we are always interested in developing interstate cooperation,” he said.

At the same time, recalling the opening of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Hungary in 2021, the speaker added that high-level meetings and bilateral visits also contribute to strengthening the partnership. Speaking about interparliamentary relations, Nurlanbek Shakiev emphasized the need to increase cooperation within the framework of the friendship group and relevant committees.

In the context of the development of economic relations, Shakiev pointed out that despite great opportunities, the level of our economic interaction between countries is very low. In this regard, there is a need to actively work to increase trade turnover.

He also outlined the strengthening of cultural ties between the two fraternal peoples as one of the priorities of cooperation. “It would be good to translate the works of Kyrgyz and Hungarian poets into two languages, thereby strengthening our spiritual ties,” the speaker concluded.

In turn, Ambassador Sandor Dorogi noted that the speaker’s proposals are very important. In addition, he said that the works of the great Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov are studied in secondary schools in Hungary. “Through them we discovered Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia,” the ambassador said. In addition, he informed that recently the works of the Hungarian poet Sándor Petőfi were translated and published in the Kyrgyz language.

In conclusion, Sandor Dorogi summarized that in recent years, bilateral relations have actively developed. “I am confident that your planned visit to Hungary in February of this year will contribute to the development of political-economic, cultural-humanitarian and especially inter-parliamentary relations,” he emphasized.
