Bishkek, Sept. 14, 2018. /Kabar/. The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan is monitoring the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border where a conflict occurred between residents of border villages.
According to data, a conflict occurred between residents of Bakay village of Batken oblast, Kyrgyzstan, and Tojikon village of Isfara region, Tajikistan, on September 12.
The cause of the conflict is laying of water supply pipes. The work was initiated by residents of Tojikon village of Isfara region, Tajikistan.
Since the territory of the village is part of the undelimited area of the state border, all repair works are prohibited. However, the citizens of Tajikistan ignored the prohibition, which caused outrage of the Kyrgyz citizens - residents of Bakay village of Batken region. The demand of the Kyrgyz citizens to stop the work converted into a minor verbal confrontation.
The conflict was taken under control within half an hour after it started.
The same day the leadership of the Kyrgyz State Border Service’s division in Batken oblast organized a meeting with their counterparts from Tajikistan, where they agreed on carrying out explanatory work with the residents of the villages.
At the moment akims of Batken region, Kyrgyzstan, and Isfara region, the Republic of Tajikistan, are having meetings with residents of the border areas. Negotiations are being held between oblast leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan is monitoring the situation in the Kyrgyz-Tajik part of the border. The Border Service divisions in Batken oblast are now operating in high alert.
