The Kyrgyz Stock Exchange in partnership with the USAID Enterprise and Business Environment Development Project held the first online webinar on "Attracting investment in the stock market of the Kyrgyz Republic”, the press service of the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange (KSE) told Kabar News Agency.

According to the information, over 30 representatives of business associations in Kyrgyzstan took part in the webinar, who received useful information about existing financial instruments on the stock market of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The webinar was organized within the framework of the ongoing information campaign to raise awareness of the business community of the country.

"You can invest your own money in the company, or you can get a loan from a commercial bank, but in some cases it is more profitable to issue stocks or bonds. By issuing shares, you offer investors a stake in your company and a dividend from the profits. With bonds, you borrow money from investors and pay interest in return. A wide variety of businesses can enter the stock market: stores, cafes and restaurants, manufacturing companies, financial and IT companies. The Kyrgyz Stock Exchange is open for cooperation and is ready to provide comprehensive support to companies entering the stock market," KSE President Medet Nazaraliev said.

He added that attracting investment through the stock market may be cheaper than loans. The KSE head also indicated such financial instrument as "green bonds". Many international funds and organizations are currently willing to invest in projects beneficial for the climate and environment. It is important for them to be sure that by investing, they are helping to make the world a better place. Kyrgyz companies can take advantage of this tool and begin to attract investment through the issue of "green bonds" and thus lay the foundation for the development of a "green economy" in Kyrgyzstan.

Nuradil Raimbekov, the director of the USAID Enterprise and Business Environment Development Project noted that despite the fact that the stock market is not yet so popular among domestic businesses and investors, in the future this situation will change through the active work of the KSE management, professional securities market participants, as well as partners represented by development institutions, which will focus on the development of green finance.

"In addition, professional securities market participants are planning to launch in the near future a new financial instrument for the country - sukuk according to the Islamic financing principles, which should undoubtedly cause great interest on the part of small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) of the country.

In general, USAID Enterprise and Business Environment Development Project will continue to work towards informing SMB about the benefits of the securities market, as well as providing technical support to potential issuers to pass a set of preparatory measures for the issuance of securities. We want to help as many companies from the real sector as possible to enter the stock market," Nuradil Raimbekov said.

Today's webinar is the first in a series of planned informational events of the parties, which will be of a regular nature. The next meeting will take place offline, and the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange expressed the hope that the geography of information meetings held will be expanded. Thus, knowledge about the stock market will cover the entire business sector of the country.
