Bishkek, June 25, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, June 25 Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Chingiz Aidarbekov held phone talk with Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis.
Aidarbekov expressed gratitude to the Swiss side for the financial and technical assistance in combating the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
The parties considered issues of further cooperation within the Bretton Woods Institutions, as well as assistance of the Swiss side in restructuring the state external debt of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The two FMs discussed the implementation of agreements, reached following the official visit of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Switzerland in July 2019.
Readiness to conduct a joint analysis of the effectiveness of projects under the Switzerland - Kyrgyzstan: Cooperation Programme 2017-2021 was expressed, and new priority areas for cooperation, including in the field of climate change, environmental protection and ecology were identified.
An agreement was reached to hold in the near future Kyrgyz-Swiss political consultations online, as well as to intensify trade and economic relations at the sites of bilateral and multilateral events.
Chingiz Aidarbekov and Ignazio Cassis considered issues of development of humanitarian contacts, as well as cooperation within international organizations.
The Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude to Switzerland for the technical support provided during the election processes.
