Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2020 / Kabar /. The Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism submits for public discussion a draft on amending the resolution "On Approval of the Regulations on the Classification of Elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Kyrgyz Republic and the National List of Elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Kyrgyz Republic".
According to the document, this draft government decree has been prepared in order to strengthen and preserve the protection of hunting dog breeds. The objective of the project is to amend the National List of Elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Kyrgyz Republic.
This draft resolution is being submitted to implement the Action Plan on the promotion of the Kyrgyz Taigan within the framework of the protection of the national, cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people.
At present, together with the National Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic for UNESCO, the relevant documents have been prepared to include the nomination "Knowledge and skills of raising Taigans" in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Taigan is a breed of dogs from the ancient group of Central Asian greyhounds, formed in the extreme mountain conditions of Kyrgyzstan. It is widespread in the mountainous regions of the republic, mainly in the Tien Shan zone and is well adapted to work in mountainous rugged terrain about 2-4 thousand meters above sea level.
Today, the position of Taigans is in a difficult situation, and in order to prevent the extinction of this breed, there is a need for their preservation and development.
