Bishkek, March 14, 2019. / Kabar /. At the initiative of the Kyrgyz side a telephone conversation took place between Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin on Wednesday.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
The ministers noted the need to relieve tension, the importance of close cooperation between the relevant authorities of the two countries in the name of preserving and strengthening good neighborly relations between the two fraternal peoples.
On March 13, 2019 a conflict occurred between the residents of the village of Aksai, Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and the village of Mekhnabad, Tajikistan. The cause of the conflict was the construction of the Aksai-Tamdyk bypass road. The conflicting sides began throwing stones at each other during the conflict.
According to data of the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan, one citizen of Kyrgyzstan was injured and taken to hospital. Also, Tajik citizens set fire to a private house of a Kyrgyz citizen in the village of Ortoboz in Batken region.
