Bishkek, June 29, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon held a bilateral talks in an extended format in Dushanbe.
The leaders discussed topical issues of the bilateral agenda, cooperation in ensuring security in the border areas and interaction in combating external threats within regional and international organizations.
Issues related to the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border were also considered.
Emomali Rahmon noted Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are actively cooperating on international platforms, primarily within the UN, CSTO, SCO, OSCE, CIS.
He drew attention to the fact that the main issue of bilateral relations is certainly related to the delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
The Tajik leader added the latest incident on the border has clearly demonstrated that the sides need to resolve border issues only through negotiations, taking into account transnational interests.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted Kyrgyzstan highly values its relations with Tajikistan.
"We have always stated that the comprehensive development of Kyrgyz-Tajik relations, the deepening of mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation, as well as the strengthening of good neighborly relations and equal partnership with Tajikistan meet the long-term priorities of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy. The above-mentioned remains relevant today. All the more so because our sides have experienced an undesirable conflict that has caused pain and damage to both sides. I believe that we have enough wisdom to resolve this situation for the benefit of the two peoples," the president of Kyrgyzstan highlighted.
The head of state noted the importance of strengthening trust between the peoples of the two countries, especially in the border area, continuation of work to ensure security and stability in the border areas, the suppression of any destructive actions, aimed at inciting ethnic hatred and increasing tension among the local population.
President Zhaparov emphasized the importance of practical implementation of an agreements on twinning relations and the Plan of Cooperation between Batken Oblast and Sughd Region in order to enhance interaction between the regions of the two countries.
