Bishkek, Nov.13, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Absattar Syrgabaev met with U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Leslie Viguerie, the Transport Ministry said.
During the meeting, Minister Absattar Syrgabaev noted that Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to modernization of important transport arteries of the country, construction of new alternative routes, development of multimodal transport corridors, creation of favorable conditions for transportation of cargo and passengers.
He also offered the U.S. participation in investing in the construction project of the Balykchi-Kochkor-Karakol railroad.
Leslie Viguerie noted that since 2023 there is growing interest of American companies in the implementation of transport projects in the Kyrgyz Republic.
He noted that the U.S. Embassy is negotiating with the U.S. Export-Import Bank and Citibank, a private bank, to finance the Balykchi-Kochkor-Karakol railroad project.
The ambassador informed that the U.S. is the largest investor of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), noting also that the EBRD is considering financing the project “Reconstruction of the northern bypass highway of Bishkek and settlements of Chui oblast”.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness for further cooperation.
