Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2021. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov in Ashgabat on Nov. 26.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported that during the conversation, the sides stressed the importance of further deepening the political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, maintaining cultural and humanitarian ties and strengthening the bilateral legal framework.
The heads of the foreign ministries discussed a wide range of issues in Kyrgyz-Turkmen relations, the progress in the implementation of previously reached agreements. In particular, they discussed the issues of holding the fifth meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation, the creation of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen development fund, the construction of the Turkmenistan business center in Bishkek, the construction of the Turkmenistan resort and recreational sphere in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, etc.
The issues of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and the participation of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov in the work of the upcoming ECO summit in Ashgabat were separately considered.
The ministers, having exchanged views on the most pressing international and regional issues, noted that political and diplomatic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan is developing consistently, and mutual support for the initiatives of the two states within the framework of authoritative international organizations makes a significant contribution to the development of effective cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
