Kyrgyz, Uzbek leaders discuss situation on Kyrgyz-Tajik border

Bishkek, Sept. 20, 2022 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov held on Tuesday a phone conversation with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the conversation, the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border was discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported.

Sadyr Zhaparov told Shavkat Mirziyoyev about the number of deaths and casualties from the Kyrgyz side and the destruction of civil and social infrastructure facilities in the border villages of Batken Oblast.

The Uzbek leader expressed deep condolences to the families of those killed during the tragic events in southern Kyrgyzstan.

The sides stressed the importance of resolving the situation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan exclusively through peaceful diplomatic means.

The two presidents also exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral cooperation and practical implementation of joint projects, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad project.
