Tashkent, Sept. 23, 2021 . / Kabar / . Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have set a task to increase trade turnover up to $ 1 billion in the near future, with the prospect of reaching $ 2 billion, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Ibrahim Junusov said at the reception on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of independence of Kyrgyzstan.
He added that last year was a breakthrough in the development of multi-faceted Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation.
In particular, during the state visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan, agreements were reached on double increase of trade turnover and elimination of all barriers, establishment of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Investment Fund with authorized capital of $200 million.
“This visit contributed to the creation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Business Council, which will be a new platform for deepening economic partnership", the Kyrgyz ambassador said.
During the first Kyrgyz-Uzbek Business Forum in Tashkent, an agreement on the implementation of nearly 60 joint projects worth over $550 million was reached, and relevant agreements were signed following the Forum.
