Bishkek, April 1, 2022 . / Kabar /. A school has been opened in Margun village, Leilek region of Kyrgyzstan’s Batken Oblast with virtual participation of Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The opening of the school was held as part of the 4th meeting of the Council of presidential envoys of Kyrgyzstan in border oblasts and heads of Uzbekistan’s border regions.
The head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet noted that the opening of the school is a symbol of great friendship between the two peoples.
"The development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries is the result of our long-standing historical ties of brotherhood, friendship and good neighborliness. Batken Oblast borders Fergana Region of Uzbekistan, and we are in favor of expanding and increasing cross-border cooperation in all spheres. I would like to thank the leadership of the Republic of Uzbekistan for their assistance in the construction of this educational institution in Batken Oblast,” Akylbek Zhaparov said.
In turn, the Uzbek prime minister stressed that through such events the friendship between the two brotherly peoples is only strengthened and wished the Kyrgyz Republic peace and prosperity.
The agreement to build the school was reached during the visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan on March 11-12, 2021 on the personal initiative of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Construction of a new 330-seat school building began in July 2021. The estimated cost of the project was $3.5 million, which was allocated by Uzbekistan.
