Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2021 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met today in Istanbul with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the sidelines of the Turkic Council Summit ( Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS)).
The leaders of the countries discussed topical issues of expanding bilateral cooperation, including deepening the Kyrgyz-Uzbek strategic partnership in trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the Kyrgyz president’s press service said.
Sadyr Zhaparov warmly greeted Shavkat Mirziyoyev and congratulated him on his re-election to the post of President of Uzbekistan. He expressed confidence that under his leadership the country will continue to achieve significant success in its development.
Sadyr Zhaparov said that Kyrgyzstan is determined to further strengthen and expand all-round cooperation with brotherly Uzbekistan in the interests of both peoples.
President Sadyr Zhaparov invited his Uzbek counterpart to pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan in order to maintain a high potential for cooperation between the countries and further build up the entire range of bilateral cooperation.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in turn, expressed the opinion that Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have great potential in building up bilateral cooperation, including in the trade and economic direction. In his opinion, there is a real opportunity to increase the trade turnover between the two countries to USD 1 billion.
Referring to the creation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund, the leader of Uzbekistan expressed interest in building up the activities of the financial organization.
He also said that he personally controls the implementation of the joint agreements at the highest level.
The leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan expressed their readiness to continue a fruitful and active dialogue in all areas of the joint agenda.
