Bishkek, May 11, 2021. / Kabar / . Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov held talks on the platform of the second China + Central Asia (C+C5) foreign ministers’ meeting in Xi'an, PRC.
During the talks, the sides paid special attention to the current situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported Tuesday.
Kazakbaev briefed his interlocutor on the events of April 28-30, 2021 and the current situation in Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan. He stressed the intention of the Kyrgyz side to follow an agreements reached at high and highest levels as a result of the talks between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov welcomed the ongoing efforts of the Kyrgyz side to resolve the incident on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, and assured of Uzbekistan's readiness to provide all possible assistance and support to further stabilize the situation in the conflict zone.
During the meeting, the two ministers also discussed current issues of the bilateral Kyrgyz-Uzbek agenda, and noted with satisfaction the results of visits and events at high and highest levels organized in early 2021: the state visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan, the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Business Council, the 9th meeting of the Joint Kyrgyz-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation.
In order to further implement the agreements reached and consolidate this momentum in the Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations, Kazakbaev invited his Uzbek counterpart to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan in the nearest convenient time.
Particular attention was paid to the expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation through the joint implementation of specific projects within the established Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
In addition, the foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan debated the possibility of holding this year a Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Kyrgyzstan.
