Tashkent, Dec.26, 2019. /Kabar/. Writers’ Unions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have signed the Memorandum on Cooperation, Kabar correspondent has learnt from the Resource Center of the Uzbek Writers’ Union.
The signing ceremony was held as part of delegation of Kyrgyz writers, headed by Chairman of Writers’ Union of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Kalybekov to Tashkent.
The Memorandum was signed by Chairman of Writers’ Union of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Kalybekov and his Uzbek counterpart, People's Poet of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Sayyid.
The memorandum provides for rapprochement and mutual enrichment of Kyrgyz and Uzbek literature, mutual exchange of experience, restoration and further development of literary ties.
Sayyid said Kyrgyz literature and Kyrgyz folklore are similar to Uzbek poems and works.
“Now our literary understanding will expand, Kyrgyz writers' works to be translated into Uzbek and Uzbek writers' works into Kyrgyz. We know that Kyrgyz literature is a great literature, which in the person of Chyngyz Aitmatov has glorified not only the Kyrgyz people, but also the entire Turkic world. Henceforth, it will develop in new times,” the Uzbek poet said.
The same day, the Kyrgyz delegation visited Aitmatov Center at the National University of Uzbekistan, and laid flowers at the memorial plaque on Aitmatov Street in Tashkent.
