Bishkek, Aug. 7, 2024 . / Kabar / . Two Myrgyz wrestlers Akzhol Makhmudov and Uzur Dzhusupbekov will compete for bronze medals of the Paris Olympics.
Thus, Uzur Dzhusupbekov (weight category up to 97 kg) started from the stage of 1/8 finals, where he defeated the athlete from Lithuania, but in the next round he lost to the Iranian Mohammadhadi Sarawi.
The athlete from Iran defeated Mohamed Gabr from Egypt in the semifinals and gave Dzhusupbekov the opportunity to play in the consolation tournament for 3rd place.
The Kyrgyzstani defeated Joseph Patrick Rau of the United States 9-4 in the first round of the consolation Aug. 7.
He will face Mohamed Gabr of Egypt in the bronze medal bout.
Another wrestler Akzhol Makhmudov (up to 77 kg) began Aug. 6 with a 1/8 finals appearance, where he defeated American athlete Kamal Bay. In the quarterfinals, the Kyrgyz lost to Kazakhstan's Demeu Zhadraev, but was given the opportunity to continue in the consolation tournament for the bronze medal.
In the first round of the consolation, he fought against Alexis Munoz of Colombia and earned an early 9-0 victory.
Now in the final block he will fight for 3rd place and bronze medal against Sanan Suleymanov from Azerbaijan.
