Bishkek, July 9, 2021 . / Kabar / . 1,501 fires occurred in Kyrgyzstan in six month of the year, the press service of the republic’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
The material damage amounted to about KGS 370 million. As a result of the fires, 24 people died and 32 were injured, including four young children. 20 people were rescued.
With the onset of the summer fire period in the country, number of fires associated with dry grass in the fields of pastures, forestry areas, residential sectors and other objects of various purposes has increased.
Fires associated with dry grass most frequently occur in rural areas, where residents engage in cattle rearing. Hay barns, barns, fields with cereal crops or dead wood are mostly burned," the report said.
In addition, the main causes of fires are playfulness of children with fire and careless handling of fire. 65.3% of fires occur in residential sectors.
