Bishkek, Nov. 21, 2024. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Protocol to the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict signed on May 14, 1954 in the city of The Hague”.
The Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, signed on May 14, 1954 in the city of The Hague, to which the Kyrgyz Republic acceded in 1995, provides for a system of general and special protection of cultural property, which are of great importance for the cultural heritage of all people.
The Protocol to the Convention was adopted like the Hague Convention on May 14, 1954. At present 113 countries of the world have acceded to this Protocol, among the CIS countries - Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
At present, the Kyrgyz Republic has more than 1,500 immovable monuments of history, archaeology, architecture and urban planning, monumental art, as well as 68 state museums containing valuable exhibits.
Accession to the Protocol to the Convention will make it possible to effectively use the cultural potential of the Kyrgyz Republic in the international arena, which will contribute to the formation of an effective force for practical tasks of the state's foreign policy.
