Bishkek, Dec. 15, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan’s Headquarters for Combating COVID-19 has announced on Wednesday that 9,341 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were given in the past 24 hours.
Of these, 4,181 people were vaccinated with the first dose, while the second shot was given to 5,210people.
The total number of doses provided up to today stands at 1,169,575 while 952,709 people have been completely vaccinated.
Kyrgyzstan started the vaccination campaign on March 29, 2020. The country is inoculating its citizens with Sinopharm, Sputnik-V, Sputnik-Light, Astra Zeneca, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. In addition, the country received on Tuesday 1.5 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine from China as a humanitarian aid.
The same day, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov made an appeal to the Kyrgyz people to vaccinate themselves and vaccinate their loved ones, primarily elderly and chronically ill relatives.
He said that a new omicron strain may appear in Kyrgyzstan in mid-January of this year and by this time citizens need to have time to get vaccinated.
In total, 184,055 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Kyrgyzstan since the pandemic, 179,123 of them have recovered, 2,775 people have died.
