Bishkek, Dec.4, 2024. /Kabar/. As part of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov’s official visit to the Republic of Korea, an Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan and the Asian Forestry Cooperation Organization (AFoCO).
The document provides for cooperation in the field of agroforestry and horticulture.
The total amount of the agreement is $40 million and it is aimed at implementing a number of projects in the field of agroforestry and horticulture.
The document covers several key areas of cooperation that are of strategic importance for the sustainable development of agriculture and the improvement of the ecosystem in Kyrgyzstan:
- Comprehensive cooperation in the field of agroforestry and horticulture, including carbon projects through Acorn. These projects will be aimed at improving the ecosystem, combating climate change and increasing the sustainability of agriculture, contributing to sustainable economic growth.
- Pest and disease control in agroforestry gardens. Particular attention will be paid to the protection of agricultural crops, which will increase the yield and quality of products in the agricultural sector of Kyrgyzstan.
Along with this, the sides discussed the issue of opening an AFoCO Representative Office in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the creation of an AFoCO Regional Educational and Training Center for Central Asian countries.
Training for farmers and specialists are expected to be organized, aimed at introducing new technologies, improving qualifications and exchanging best practices in the field of agroforestry and horticulture.
