Bishkek, July 11, 2024. / Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov, as part of a working trip to Krasnoyarsk, spoke at the plenary meeting of the 25th Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission and the 11th Kyrgyz-Russian Interregional Conference.
During his speech Akylbek Zhaparov emphasized the importance of Kyrgyz-Russian relations and noted the high dynamics of bilateral contacts at the highest and high levels.
According to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, “the leaders of the two countries - Sadyr Zhaparov and Vladimir Putin - highly assessed the state of cooperation and outlined new guidelines for its further development.”
Akylbek Zhaparov in his speech focused on issues of trade and economic cooperation. He noted the task of increasing mutual trade turnover to 5 billion US dollars in the near future.
He also emphasized the openness of Kyrgyzstan to Russian investment.
According to the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, the Russian Export Center, the Eurasian Development Bank, the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, Business Councils and Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries are actively working in this direction.
“Over the past years, the interregional conference has become a platform for the exchange of experience and best practices between businesses of the two countries, as well as for strengthening interaction between regions,” he emphasized, especially noting the active work of the RKDF, which over the 10 years of its existence has financed more than 3 thousand projects totaling almost 690 million US dollars.
Akylbek Zhaparov also invited the Russian side to take part in the Issyk-Kul Investment and Economic Forum, the light industry exhibition “Bi Tugaze”, “AGRO EXPO”, etc.
The head of the Cabinet noted active cooperation with Rosatom in the implementation of energy projects, including the construction of renewable energy facilities.
In the context of cultural and humanitarian interaction, the last 3 years, according to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, can be called “breakthrough for the education sector.”
He noted that last year an agreement was concluded on the construction of 9 modern schools in Kyrgyzstan, one school in each of seven regions and two cities of republican significance. In addition, the President of Kyrgyzstan signed a Decree on the creation of a branch of Moscow State University named after Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov in the city of Karakol.
“In addition, there is an active exchange of cultural delegations, visits of creative groups, organization of exhibitions and film screenings on an ongoing basis. In October 2024, Moscow will host the Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region,” he said, adding that this year it is planned to open the Kyrgyzstan pavilion at VDNKh in Moscow.
At the end of his speech, the head of the Cabinet outlined the prospects for cooperation in the field of tourism.
“This year, Russian investors are starting to implement a major project for the construction of the Karkyra ski resort in the Issyk-Kul region and other tourist facilities. Russian tourists are always welcome in Kyrgyzstan,” concluded Akylbek Zhaparov said adding that “the decisions taken today following the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the interregional agreements, memorandums and business contracts signed will serve to further strengthen Kyrgyz-Russian relations in the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership.”
Following the results of the plenary meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission and the 11th Kyrgyz-Russian Interregional Conference, a number of documents and agreements were signed.
