Kyrgyzstan and Russia reach agreement on continuation of co-op on migration issues

Bishkek, Oct. 18, 2022. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov met with Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Oleg Khramov, the press service of the Cabinet reported.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the further strengthening of the Kyrgyz-Russian strategic partnership, including within the framework of regional international organizations and integration associations.

Akylbek Zhaparov noted that 2022 is an anniversary year for the Kyrgyz-Russian bilateral relations.

“An active political dialogue at the highest and high levels, as well as a high degree of sectoral interaction contribute to effective cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats,” he said.

The sides paid special attention to expanding cooperation in the migration and information spheres.

“The main advantage of the entry of the Kyrgyz Republic into the Eurasian Economic Union in 2015 was the possibility for the citizens of our country to work in the territory of the Russian Federation without obtaining permits. Currently, many of our citizens are successfully working in Russia. Unfortunately, citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic continue to experience difficulties in legalizing their stay on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the head of the Cabinet noted.

Akylbek Zhaparov turned to his interlocutor with a request to provide maximum assistance in solving the problems of our compatriots in Russia.

In turn, the deputy secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation noted that at the 6th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, which took place on October 13, 2022 in Astana, the president of the Russian Federation gave an exhaustive assessment of the issues of strengthening security and stability in the Asian region.

Oleg Khramov also informed that during the meeting with Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Kudaibergen Bazarbaev, an agreement was reached to continue cooperation on migration issues, including within the framework of interagency cooperation to find solutions to existing issues.
