Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have to resolve about 300 km disputed sections - Sadyr Zhaparov

Bishkek, April 25, 2022 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, in an exclusive interview with Kabar News Agency, answered the question of when border issues with Tajikistan would be settled, and whether it was possible to rebuild the fences along the border than to build a new White House building.

He said that the border issue with Tajikistan has not been removed, it is being resolved.

“The issue of 600 km has been resolved, about 300 km are left. But the issue is being resolved slowly. Slow pace not only on our side, but on both sides. The border issue, which has not been settled in 30 years, will not be settled in a month. There are disputed areas. Both sides will not be able to put up a fence until they resolve the disputed points.

People who do not understand this say that it would be better if they built a fence. As soon as the controversial points are resolved, then both sides will begin to build a fence. Border posts will be open. Trading will begin. Relations with Tajikistan will be the same as now with Uzbekistan. I hope that relations will continue as before,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.
