Bishkek, June 29, 2021 . / Kabar / . "We have outlined further steps to resolve all border issues and actively continue work on describing lines of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border," President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said on Tuesday in a statement to the media after negotiations with Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.
The head of state stated Kyrgyzstan gives priority to the development of multifaceted relations with Tajikistan, and in its foreign policy remains committed to all previously reached agreements in strengthening mutually beneficial partnership based on friendship and good neighborliness.
Sadyr Zhaparov said that during the talks a meaningful exchange of views on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border took place. In addition, an issues of regional security and strengthening cooperation in the water and energy sectors were considered.
The Kyrgyz president expressed hope that the sides will carry out productive and fruitful work during the upcoming 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission to be held in Bishkek in the near future.
Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan agreed to strengthen work to ensure security and stability in the border areas, to suppress any destructive actions aimed at inciting ethnic hatred among the local population.
The Kyrgyz side took the initiative to create a peacekeeping commission consisting of elders from both sides living in the border villages to prevent and possible conflicts.
