Kyrgyzstan and Turkiye hold political consultations

Bishkek, Oct. 5, 2023. / Kabar /. Bilateral Kyrgyz-Turkish political consultations took place in Istanbul (Turkiye) on October 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aibek Moldogaziev, the delegation of the Turkish Republic was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Burak Akçapar. Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Turkiye Ruslan Kazakbaev also took part in the consultations.

During the political consultations, a wide range of topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade and economic, military-technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

A detailed discussion took place on issues of interaction within international and regional organizations, as well as coordination of joint actions at multilateral platforms.

The parties also reviewed the schedule of upcoming events and discussed planned visits and meetings at the highest and high levels.

Issues of developing and deepening bilateral trade and economic relations, increasing mutual trade turnover between countries, including through the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Development Fund (investment), as well as issues of attracting Turkish investments to the Kyrgyz Republic and resolving issues related to business activities were discussed in detail Turkish companies in Kyrgyzstan.

The Kyrgyz side especially noted the importance of the early resumption of the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Health and Medical Sciences, which provides for annual free treatment of 150 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in medical institutions in Turkiye, and also expressed a request to expand the quota provided.

Issues of mutual travel of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, simplification of conditions of stay and extension of the visa-free regime for citizens of the two states were also discussed.
