Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan agree to proceed three bus routes

On Jan. 22, 2018 in Tashkent a meeting of Kyrgyz-Uzbek competent authorities on International Road Transport was held within the framework of implementation of the Agreement between the Governments of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on the International Road Transport dated from Sept.4, 1996.

The press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Kyrgyz Republic told that following the meeting at the first stage, the sides agreed to proceed and conduct the necessary procedures for launching following regular bus routes:

1. Tashkent - Bishkek (through the checkpoints Gisht-Kuprik / Zhibek Zholy);

2. Andijan-Osh (through the checkpoints Dustlik / Dostuk);

3. Fergana-Osh (through the checkpoints Uzbekistan/ Kyzyl-Kiya).

At the same time, the sides agreed to conduct appropriate internal and international approvals with the competent authorities necessary to resume the Bishkek-Batken, Bishkek-Isfana and Bishkek-Suluktaroutes that transit through the territories of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

On Jan. 24-25 of this year, a regular tripartite meeting was also held in Tashkent on implementation of the Agreement between the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China on the International Road Transport dated from Feb. 19, 1998, following which the sides agreed on producing unified permit blank forms for the International Road Transport of Goods.

The sides confirmed that each permit entitles them to carry out one round trip on the route Tashkent - Andijan - Osh - Irkeshtam - Kashgar through established border crossing points at the state borders. Permission can be used only by the carrier, whose name is indicated in the permit and cannot be transferred to a third party.

The Uzbek side will produce the 2018 permit blank forms. The permit blank forms for subsequent years will be annually produced by the sides in alphabetical order, beginning with the People's Republic of China.

The sides determined the provisional quota for each side for 2018, while agreeing on the possibility of making additional exchange of permit blank forms.

The sides reached mutual understanding on the launch of regular road transport of goods under the Agreement from Feb.2018, immediately after the transfer by the Uzbek side of the permit blank forms.

The Chinese side informed that in order to ensure the safety of cargo transportation, there are restrictions on the use of awning vehicles on its territory, in accordance with its national legislation. The Kyrgyz and Uzbek sides offered the Chinese side to eliminate these restrictions as soon as possible in order to facilitate the implementation of the International Road Transport of Goods.

At the same time, the Kyrgyz and Uzbek sides were informed that the permissible height of vehicles in the territory of the People's Republic of China should not exceed 4 meters, container ships 4.2 meters.
