Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan expand cooperation in Fergana Valley

At the invitation of the Batken regional state administration, a delegation of Uzbekistan consisting of official representatives, journalists-bloggers and tour operators headed by Deputy Khokim of the Fergana region Khurshidjon Akhmedov visited the region, Dunyo News Agency of Uzbekistanreported.

The main goal of the event was to develop trade and economic relations between the two regions and cooperation in the field of tourism, as well as to strengthen friendly ties between the two peoples.

During the visit, Uzbek tour operators and media representatives received information about the tourism opportunities of Batken region.

Today, the areas of cooperation between the Batken and Fergana regions are expanding, ties in the field of tourism are strengthening. Active participation of representatives of the border region in handicraft, agricultural and other exhibitions and tourism fairs held annually in the two neighboring regions is ensured, the report said.

It should be noted that trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the regions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are becoming increasingly active. The opening of additional border checkpoints allowing citizens of the two countries to enter and exit one or another country using an internal document (ID card) had a great impact on the development of the tourism industry.

In 2024, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Osh carried out work to increase the flow of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan. In particular, the participation of about 50 Kyrgyz tour operators, journalists and bloggers in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair, held on November 21-23, was organized.

On November 16-23, an info tour to the Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara regions of Uzbekistan was organized for official representatives of the Osh region administration, travel companies and journalists and bloggers. The Uzbek-Kyrgyz tourism forum was held in Samarkand. As part of the events, about 100 memorandums of cooperation were signed between travel companies.

In 2024, Uzbekistan became the most popular destination for Kyrgyz tourists, and Kyrgyzstan for Uzbek tourists. In total, 2.2 million tourists from Kyrgyzstan visited Uzbekistan.
