Tashkent, March 11, 2021 / Kabar /. Following the results of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek business forum, contracts were signed for USD 127.6 million, the Kyrgyz Embassy in Tashkent told Kabar.
Within the framework of the state visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz-Uzbek business forum and the first meeting of the Council of Entrepreneurs of the two countries were held in Tashkent with the participation of Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economy and Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Karmyshakov and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov.
The purpose of the event was to inform the meeting participants about economic reforms, export and investment opportunities of Kyrgyzstan, strengthening and development of bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as assistance in establishing business ties between entrepreneurs of the two countries on issues of mutual interest.
The business forum was attended by representatives of government agencies, business associations and more than 100 representatives of the business sector of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan. During B2B meetings entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of the business community, had the opportunity to establish business contacts and discuss prospects for the development of cooperation.
As a result of the event, 15 bilateral documents were signed in the field of export development and implementation of joint projects.
At the end of 2020, bilateral trade between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to USD 903.1 million. Of these, Uzbekistan's exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to USD 756.6 million, and vice versa, imports - USD 146.5 million.
As of January 1, 2021, there are 183 enterprises with Kyrgyz capital operating in Uzbekistan, of which 104 are joint ventures, and 79 are enterprises with 100% foreign capital.
