Bishkek, July 6, 2022. /Kabar/. The beginning of the Child and Youth Friendly City contest was announced during the forum of mayors of cities of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek on Wednesday.
Thus, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov noted that the Child and Youth Friendly City contest is aimed at creating conditions for the comprehensive and full development of children and youth throughout the country.
"The competition sets up all the work of all our municipalities, public associations, city residents and the state corps to ensure that we think about how every decision we make affects children and youth. In addition, the basic tenet of this work is to involve young people in the decision-making process. I sincerely believe that the contest will not be a one-time event and will completely restructure the work of the municipality and set us up for long-term work with the public and young people," he said.
The competition will be held among the cities of "growth points" included in the Regional Policy Concept for 2018-2022. Cities in question are Balykchy, Batken, Bishkek, Jalal-Abad, Isfana, Kadamjay, Kara-Balta, Karakol, Kara-Kul, Kara-Suu, Kerben, Kochkor-Ata, Naryn, Osh, Talas, Tash-Kumyr, Tokmok and Uzgen. Participation of the cities in the contest is voluntary.
Last year, following winners were chosen based on the results of the contest:
