Kyrgyzstan approves new Concept of National Security

Bishkek, Dec. 23, 2021 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed a decree "On the Concept of National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic", the press service of the head of state reported.

According to the document, in order to consolidate efforts and increase the effectiveness of activities to prevent, suppress and neutralize threats to the national security of Kyrgyzstan, strengthen the country's defense capability and international cooperation in this area, it is decided to approve the Concept of National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, in cooperation with the Jogorku Kenesh is assigned to develop and adopt normative legal acts aimed at implementing the Concept.

Ministries, state committees, administrative departments of Kyrgyzstan, regional state administrations and mayor's offices of Bishkek and Osh cities, are obliged to develop sectoral, regional and departmental programs (doctrines, concepts, plans) within two months for ensuring national security for the short, medium and long term, with the definition target security indicators in the relevant areas and, in agreement with the Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, submit them in accordance with the established procedure to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic for approval.

The new Concept of the National Security of Kyrgyzstan was approved by the Security Council of the country on Nov. 26 at its meeting. Then President Sadyr Zhaparov explained the adoption of the new document by the fact that the challenges and threats to national security "are not static, they are transforming and developing."

The previous National Security Concept of Kyrgyzstan was approved in 2012.
