Bishkek, Nov. 23, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan appealed to the Russian side for assistance in solving the problems of migrant workers in Russia. This proposal was voiced in Bishkek during a meeting of representatives of the consular services of the Foreign Ministries of the two states.
At the meeting, the Kyrgyz side focused on the protection of the rights and interests of citizens engaged in labor activities in Russia. The issues of placement of Kyrgyz citizens on migration registry of the Russian Federation, timely payment of salaries to Kyrgyz employees, acquisition of compulsory medical insurance, as well as further use of Kyrgyz driving license for driving commercial vehicles in the Russian Federation were considered.
“The Kyrgyz side has requested assistance in solving these problems in order to facilitate the stay of compatriots in the territory of the Russian Federation,” the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
In addition, special attention was given to the situation of minor children of migrant workers in the Russian Federation, including the issues of their repatriation to the Kyrgyz Republic. A request was made to Russian state agencies throughout the Russian Federation to inform the consular offices of the Kyrgyz Republic about Kyrgyz children left without parental care (including those whose mothers are staying in correctional institutions of the Russian Federation) so that they can be brought back to their homeland.
The Foreign Ministry reported that the sides also agreed to continue close cooperation for improving the situation of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia.
According to official data, about 650 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan are currently working in Russia.
