Tashkent, Dec.16, 2019. /Kabar/. First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Nuran Niyazaliyev Saturday, Dec. 14 took part in the Ninth Annual Meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Central Asian States.
The meeting was organized by the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) in Tashkent, Kabar correspondent has learnt from the press service of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Uzbekistan.
The event was also attended by deputy foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the UNRCCA Natalia Gherman, the delegation of Afghanistan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Naheed Esar and UN representatives.
The participants exchanged views on regional and transnational challenges to security and stability in Central Asia, discussed the results of joint work of the Central Asian countries with the Regional Centre this year, as well as the prospects for cooperation between the region and UNRCCA in 2020.
In his speech, Nuran Niyazaliyev emphasized Kyrgyzstan's interest in strengthening close cooperation with all Central Asian countries in the trade and economic sphere, in the field of water use and security, and noted the need to strengthen the coordination of joint efforts to counteract existing challenges and jointly combat manifestations of terrorism and extremism, illicit drug trafficking and human trafficking.
Within the framework of the meeting, the participants expressed their support for the efforts of the Regional Centre, aimed at assisting the Central Asian countries in countering security challenges, and stressed the importance of further expanding regional cooperation through preventive diplomacy.
The event also included a dialogue between the meeting participants and the youth of Central Asian countries. Young people shared their vision of addressing existing security challenges in their countries and across Central Asia.
