Bishkek, Jan. 30, 2021 /Kabar/. Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ravshanbek Sabirov met on Saturday with Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Peter Burian.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported that the meeting discussed joint plans for the current year and other cooperation issues between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union.
The acting deputy prime minister noted the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to the initiative of holding the First "European Union - Central Asia" Economic Forum in Bishkek at the level of heads of governments.
"I would like to note your personal contribution to the work to promote economic cooperation between the European Union and the countries of the Central Asian region. The Kyrgyz side expects that final Resolution of the Forum will result in the decision to establish the Secretariat of the Economic Forum with the headquarters in Bishkek,” Ravshanbek Sabirov said.
According to him, the Kyrgyz Republic prioritizes transboundary water projects, which would strengthen integration processes in the region.
"We attach special importance to the water-energy balance in Central Asia. The selected regional projects should be implemented in the countries of the region. We have already started preparing for the Economic Forum. Thus, an Organizing Committee has been created for preparation and holding of the Forum; state bodies have been assigned to prepare and submit for consideration transboundary projects and discuss them with their counterparts in Central Asian countries," the acting deputy prime minister added.
In turn, Special Representative Peter Burian noted the similarity in the priorities of the European Union and the Kyrgyz Republic.
"This concerns the position in the field of "green economy" and digitalization. I see that the Kyrgyz side is actively working in this direction. In the future we propose to work also in the field of the rule of law, in such relevant topics as human resources, upbringing, education, training in the development of abilities of normative approaches and research, gender equality," said the rpecial representative.
In addition, Peter Burian stressed the upcoming Forum "European Union - Central Asia" will be an excellent platform for dialogue to promote projects of regional importance.
