Kyrgyzstan celebrates Manas epic Day

Bishkek, Dec. 4, 2017. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is celebrating today the Manas epic Day, established by the government resolution in 2015.

The main goal of the establishment of this day is the preservation and popularization of the Manas epic, the development of Manas in the republic and the provision of state support to Manas narrators.

As you know, Manas epic is included in the list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity of UNESCO, as well as in the Guinness Book of Records as the most voluminous epic in the world.

Also in 1994, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the worldwide celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Manas epic, which took place in 1995.

Recall the last two years – in 2015 and in 2016 – Manas narrators seven days and seven nights without interruption narrated Manas epic.
